Chausey Chausey is an archipelago in the English Channel, around 17 km from the Normandy coast. It comprises over 365 islands and islets at high tide, but only around ten are permanently inhabited. Chausey is famous for its magnificent white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, which attract many visitors every year. The main activities on the archipelago are fishing, oyster farming and tourism. If you stay at our campsite in Chausey, you’ll be able to observe a protected natural site, home to a wide variety of seabirds and other rare animal and plant species. Discover Chausey from the campsite Once exploited for its granite, some of which was used to build Mont Saint-Michel, and later for the production of soda from seaweed, Chausey today lives mainly by fishing and tourism. If Chausey is so famous for its fishing (on foot, with traps…), it’s because the archipelago benefits from particularly favorable natural conditions. The alternating tides, the vastness of the exposed foreshore, the currents and the rugged coastline create a wide variety of environments that are particularly conducive to marine life: meadow channels, underwater dunes, brackish mudflats… Visit the Chausey archipelago Stay at a campsite near Chausey Staying at a campsite near Chausey is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers.
